Purpose and Objectives

Purpose

This course was developed to help Fielding Graduate University's Media Psychology PhD students explore and personalize the theory and practice of innovation. Innovation covers a great deal of ground. But our interest is more specifically on the worlds of business and education during modern times. Toward that end we consider McLuhan, Drucker and Christensen. We examine Rogers' Diffusion of Innovations and Gartner's Hype Cycle. We look at Jobs and Kelley's IDEO. And we actually propose innovative ideas in the areas of socio-technological development that resonate with theories of psychology and media.
