How can you use the IDEO design process to identify challenges and opportunities in the world of products and processes from a human-centered perspective?

 

Activity

Students present their IDEO inspired ideas and observations. Each student gets a few minutes to talk about innovation oportunities s/he identified and the ideas s/he proposes to address it. We follow that with a few minutes of brainstorming, and move to the next student.

 

A note about the limitations assignment. If we were to use IDEO's process, then we might have taken a single idea, which someone would build on, which then someone else would build on, and so on. Recall that IDEO is a group brainstorming process. But also recall that the brainstormers work together, usually in person, often 10-12 hours a day. I am trying to adapt this to the reality of Fielding students, who are not co-located, and who are taking this course as one of the many things they have to do, such as work and take care of families. That is why I oped for something more doable, which is each of you working alone to go through the process yourself. When we are in Moodle, we will do as much idea building as time will allow.
